The New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, is now the youngest billionaire in the world. Kraft has been a business mogul since he was a child and his father bought him a paper route for $5 when he was 12 years old. Since then he’s made his way into many different industries including sporting goods manufacturing, real estate development and paper distribution.
In 1985, before age 40, Kraft had already amassed about $1 billion dollars from these various ventures. Now worth an estimated $4.2 billion dollars at the time of this writing with most of that coming from sports team ownership and global investments in companies like Facebook and Beats Electronics which were later sold to Apple for over 3 billion dollars – Kraft’s net worth is growing by leaps and bounds every day.
Robert Kraft is most well known as the owner of the New England Patriots and has had a lot to do with turning that team into one of the best on and off the field in NFL history – including 5 super bowl championships and 3 undefeated seasons (2004, 2007 and 2016). He was able to accomplish this by bringing Bill Belichick on board as the head coach and drafting Tom Brady in the 6th round of 2000.
Robert Kraft is a philanthropist and has donated millions to various causes including many that help benefit children’s health and education due to his son’s struggles with a rare illness, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, from age 7 until his death from the disease at age 42 in 2005.
Kraft is also a part-owner of the New York Jets but is not as well known for this fact as he keeps a low profile with regards to his ownership percentages and general involvement in the day-to-day goings on of the team behind closed doors.
