Leading India’s Future Today (LIFT) Foundation is a philanthropic entity, which is the brainchild of Fr. Jamel. Fr. Jamel co-founded the LIFT Foundation with the help of four other Indian priests in 2004. The foundation focuses on improving the future of the Indian communities by investing in the education and care of the Indian youth.
This philanthropic organization is located in Tamil Nadu, and it is a beacon of hope for poor Indian children who would otherwise lack an opportunity to get a good education.
The leadership of the LIFT Foundation works hard, and it’s focused on improving the future of children from impoverished backgrounds in Tamil Nadu and beyond.

Mr. Niranjan Shah is a board member of the LIFT Foundation, and he provides material and financial support to the LIFT Foundation. He works alongside Father Jamel James in ensuring the LIFT Foundation attains its objectives.
The Story of the LIFT Foundation
The LIFT foundation was established in 2004 by Father Jamel James and four other priests from India. The priests started the foundation after realizing that education was a significant factor in determining people from poor backgrounds. Father Jamel James conceived the LIFT Foundation idea while studying in Chicago.
While in Chicago, Fr. Jamel met Fr. Jack Wall and shared his insights and experiences on how education transforms people’s lives. The Niranjan Shah Chicago idea on LIFT got considerable support from its first recipients.
The insightful ideas that Fr. Jamel gave inspired Fr. Jack and some other volunteers who decided to support him in establishing a foundation that would help poor Indian children get some high-quality education.
The foundation has helped many Indian children in the past 15 years, and so far, more than 25 students have earned their first degree while under the LIFT Foundation’s sponsorship. Some of the students who have received their undergraduate degrees have even gotten their master’s degree.
The foundation’s power and popularity are increasing because some of the beneficiaries of the LIFT Foundation are now giving back to the foundation by supporting students in the LIFT 2.0 program by providing material and financial donations as well as mentorship support.
Niranjan Shah provides leadership, material, and financial support to the LIFT Foundation. His generosity knows no bounds, and he has donated to the needy in the United States and the urban and rural poor in India. His donations in the U.S often get channeled through The Shah Center.

He also makes donations through other charity-based entities such as the Sister Cities International and the LIFT Foundation. Mr. Shah was the 2006 recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for being an influential leader who shares with the less fortunate.
In the same year, India’s government also awarded Mr. Nirannjan Shah the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award for his works in philanthropy.
