During early April, the United Airlines had temporarily postponed their training clases for the new pilots. This resulted in the other airlines doing the same thing as well because of the COVID-19 outbreak which has reduced the need of the pilots during this time.
The pandemic resulted in a significant shortage of new and available pilots and is hindering the airlines from being able to recover from the setbacks. The airlines in China have already continued with their domestic flights and soo will have the international flights going once again. All of the airlines across the globe need to start taking the appropriate steps in order to ensure that they can handle all of the increased traffic that will eventually come back.
Outlook
The aviation industry has had a similar experience that had hardships like the COVID-19 pandemic such as the SARS outbreak in 2003. During the pandemic the Asian Pacific airlines had lost more than a third of their revenue passenger kilometres in three months, but in three more months they had completely recovered from the amount they lost. This may not always happen but this shows that the aviation industry has the necessary potential to recover from these types of events.
Although the industry can make a comeback from many types of events the COVID-19 situation has been like none no one has ever seen in a long time.
