He was among the first students in the city of Parana. Igor Cornelsen was born and raised in Curitiba, Brazil, in 1947. After his high school education, Igor attended the Federal University of Parana for an engineering course. Igor did not complete his engineering course; instead, he enrolled in an economics course in the same educational institution. Igor Cornelsen was among students who graduated in 1970. After his graduation, he got an opportunity to join the banking industry. During his days, engineers were employed in the investment banking sector because of their skills in using sliding rules to calculate compounding interest rates. Igor Cornelsen worked hard, and he climbed his career ladder. After a short period, he got an opportunity to work for an investment bank in Rio. Hard work and commitment led to his promotions a few years after his employment. Mr. Igor would later be appointed to the board of Directors in Multibanco in 1974 before becoming the bank’s Chief Executive Officer in 1976. In 1978, Multibanco was acquired by Bank of America, and Igor left the investment company to pursue other things in his career. Another opportunity came for Igor Cornelsen when Unibanco allowed him to serve in the financial company. Mr. Igor worked for the bank until 1985 when he moved to Libra Bank, London Merchant Bank.
Serving in London Merchant Bank was a new opportunity for the financial expert. It was the first time Igor was paid in the US dollar, and the working for the financial institution open an international opportunity for Mr. Cornelsen. Standard Chartered Merchant bank in London was the next big thing for Igor Cornelsen. He first joined the bank as a member of the Board of Directors and a representative in his home country Brazil. He served in the London based financial firm for seven years before moving out to create his business offering the same financial services he provided in Standard Chartered Merchant Bank.
