Carl Daikeler’s life work has centered around wellness and helping people help themselves. After earning a degree in media production, he joined the National Football League, but not as a player. He produced halftime shows for televised games for about five years. As a producer, Daikeler honed skills at capturing attention, timing and reading the audience.
In 1990, Carl Daikeler entered the long-form commercial industry, also known as the infomercial industry. This industry was already massively popular, and the late-night programming turned unusual products into household names. Daikeler’s work in the industry involved producing segments to sell products for weight loss and fitness. He observed that the best-selling products were items people could use at home for exercise and weight loss.
He looked into why this was the case, and his research yielded three key findings. First, people who weren’t already fit typically didn’t like going to the gym. They felt ashamed and embarrassed. Second, the gym was too costly for many people. Finally, not all people had a gym or had time in their schedule to get to one. Carl Daikeler devised the at-home BeachBody exercise video series to address these issues.
People bought the BeachBody DVDs as quickly as Daikeler could make and produce them. He rapidly expanded the library of options, and by 2015, the collection numbered more than 300. To make exercise even more convenient and affordable, he put the whole collection into the cloud and offered a streaming service called BeachBody on Demand. This service allows patrons to log in from anywhere any time and pick any of the workouts.

Nutrition has always been an interest of Carl Daikeler. He recognized that exercising all day won’t have an effect if a person puts junk food into their body. That’s why he worked with nutritionists and medical doctors to create Shakeology. The blended protein and fiber combination also includes minerals and vitamins. It fills holes in a typical American diet of fast and convenience food. Shakeology shakes make a person feel full for four to six hours, and their tasty flavors reduce cravings for sweet treats.
