Recently the press held a meeting with Dr. Jeffrey Haris, a financial expert, and the former Chief Economist at Online Trading Academy. In the press release, Harris expressed his thought on education and especially financial education. According to him, not all forms of educations are equal. Recently Online Trading Academy engaged in an online forum where he could offer his expert opinion on financial education. Dr. Harris is currently the chair at Kogod School of business in the finance department. He has also head other major financial departments, Security and Exchange Departments, among many others, as the chief economist.
He went ahead to review the online learning materials at OTA that are offered through virtual classes. Dr. Harris also expressed his passion for education as a life skill; he explained his passion for participating and expanding the public financial markets. Dr. Harris expressed his disappointment as the majority lack basic financial skills. Therefore through the American University, in partnership with OTA, they are dedicated to providing financial education and exposure to the markets. He added that the educational materials and curriculum offered at OTA are at par with that offered at the universities. He described it as sound as it is based on sound economic theories.
The techniques used at OTA equip the students with the necessary principles that are needed to develop their confidence in the trading and investment market. On his perspective that not all education is equal is that some are theoretical, while on the other hand, we still have informational education. All these are necessary tools to building the necessary skills and confidence needed.
In addition, Dr. Harris added that he is even more passionate about how financial technology works. Financial technology has made learning and risk management easier.
