Niranjan Shah founded Globetrotters International Inc. while also being one of the co-partners for Globetrotters Engineering Corp. Both companies specialize in architecture and consulting in Chicago.
Shah and Leadership
Under Shah’s leadership the company has achieved phenomenal milestone with Shah himself being awarded for his efforts in civil engineering and development of the city of Chicago. Niranjan Shah also owns a design studio corporation: the GEC Design Group which is a subsidiary of Globetrotters. The company offers expertise in mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering.
Shah like to retell the story by saying that he was the first official employee of the company; over the decades he has grown the company to have over 200 professionals.
Globetrotters is the construction company that has been part of many monumental projects in Chicago. The organization worked on the Deep Tunnel Project, on John Stroger Jr. Hospital, the revamping of the Midway International Airport, and the expansion of Terminal 5 of the O’Hare airport. The company also designed and developed the McCormick Place Expansion.
Since the company’s inception Globetrotters has expanded globally as well. On behalf of USAID the organization now has operations in Belize, Philippines, and Indonesia. International architecture firm has built harbors, airfields, roads, bridges, pipelines, railroads, and highways.
Apart from leading the teams at Globetrotter, Niranjan Shah spends his time on different corporate boards where he guides businesses.
Between 1994 and 2002 Shah has served as a board member of the Goldwater Foundation for Excellence. He was also the Board Chairman of the University of Illinois for three years between 2003 and 2006. Niranjan Shah has also served as a board member of the Barry Goldwater Foundation in the mid 1990s. He was part of the advisory committee of the Asian Pacific Advisory Economic Conference. Currently he is serving as the VP of the Delhi- Chicago Sister Cities International Program.
In 2006 Shah received Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award by the Indian President. He is also the recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor which granted to him by the National Ethnic Coalition of Organization.
