Wes Edens and volunteers from New Fortress Energy joined aid efforts to the people of Puerto Rico after a series of earthquakes. El Nuevo Dia made the announcement on January 13th, 2020 that the company sent over 20 volunteers from its commercial and administration departments. They combined their relief efforts with the employees of Coca Cola and donated financially to purchase necessities and food for victims impacted by the horrific disaster. The New Fortress’s employees helped unload and sort perishable and non-perishable foods and water to various locations. When Wes Edens accepted the role to serve as CEO of New Fortress Energy, he made a commitment to contribute to society and communities. He donates freely to non profit organizations, such as the Red Cross in the time disasters. Edens made a financial donation to the Red Cross Chapter of Puerto Rico to further relief efforts in Southern Puerto Rico.
The volunteers assisted the nonprofit with the Food Bank in downtown Carolina. They purchased essential items the victims needed to survive and live productively in affected areas. New Fortress Energy is a private equity asset of Fortress Investment Group in New York, NY. Wes Edens established the international energy infrastructure company in 2014. The Board of Directors elected him to serve as Chairman and CEO in 2018. New Fortress recently launched a new loan facility in January 2020 to proceed with developing and building infrastructure and LNG terminals.
