Bo Parfet comes from Kalamazoo, Michigan. His activities as a risky adventurer have complemented his grounding in the high finance world. Parfet has traveled far, both figuratively and literally, since graduating from Northwestern University in Chicago with an MBA in management. He also went to the University of Michigan where he graduated with an Economics Master’s Degree.
Bo Parfet worked at America’s Financial Accounting Standard Board as a Research Fellow. This board established the rules that are to be adhered to by all businesses. Bo Parfet later worked in corporate finance as an investment banker for J.P Morgan on Wall Street. While there, he began his adventure to go around the world climbing each continent’s highest mountain: Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa), Carstesnz Pyramid (Oceania), Mount Kosciuszko (Australia), Mount Elbrus (Europe), Mount Cerro (South America), Mount McKinley (U.S.A.), Vinson Massif (Antarctica), and Mount Everest (Asia). A return visit saw Parfet be part of a vanguard of a scientific group that managed to discover 29 new species. Bo Parfet is only one out of a mere 127 adventurers in the United States to climb the seven summits.
Along with Explorers Club, Bo started an awards program in 2004 (Seven Summits) that aimed to award students with grants to perform field research in healthcare-related topics. Also, Bo Parfet formed a collaboration between Kellog School of Management and The Explorers Club that allows for experienced adventurers to give lectures on the leadership lessons they have picked up.
Bo Parfet lives with his family in Boulder, Colorado. They enjoy the location since the startup community is lively and there are easily accessible adventures.
