Kevin Plank was born and raised in a suburb of DC known as Kensington, MD and was the youngest of five brothers. His dad helped to develop the land in the city and his mom served as the mayor before working for president Reagan. Growing up, one of his favorite things to do was play football. His love of sports led to his grades slipping & so, after failing out of Georgetown prep, he was forced to go to St. John’s where he concluded his high school career.
From there, he enrolled in military school where he often tried to impress the football recruiters who attended his games. He had hoped to get scouted to one of the top Div I schools but was ultimately forced to settle for a walk on spot at UM. As he continued his football career there, he came to realize that the material they were using for their uniforms was not the most comfortable and as such set out to find something that felt smoother on the skin.
After he got it, Kevin Plank began his own business saving up money for a store of his own where he could sell these shirts. When he did, he had many of his employees agree to forego pay so he could take out an ad in espn the magazine in the hopes of giving his business a much needed shot in the arm. It worked as sales of his products soon came pouring in. See This Article.
He now lives in a multi million dollar mansion with eight bedrooms and bathrooms. He decided to sell it as he found that he wasn’t using it nearly as much as he had expected. Kevin Plank nows lives in Lutherville, MD with his wife and children.
