Paula Wallace, SCAD, Is A Successful Dreamer

Paula Wallace fulfilled her American Dream of developing a college with a community and family atmosphere when she created Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Paula’s dream started in 1970 when she was teaching and working through graduate school. She questioned the consequences of her elementary students when they got to college and found that college did not foster ceativity with kindness.

Paula Wallace SCAD wanted her students to have the ability to attend a university that would instill traits of creativity and had more kindness in the curriculum. She could find no university with those characteristics, so Paula set off to Savanah to find her school.

Paula Wallace’s mission was to develop a school that had a strong sense of community for the students who would enroll in her unknown school. Her parents volunteered at the school to teach and work with the students. Paula says that when students were unable to home for the Thanksgiving holiday, her parents would ask them to come to Thanksgiving dinner.

The school has outgrown the volunteer staff, but Paul has kept the sense of family. She stays in touch with the alumni who now live and work all over the world. Paula Wallace’s SCAD is full of Southern charm and is allowing students from all over the world to come to the incredible campus in Savannah. Go To This Page for more information.

Today the school has campuses in Atlanta, Lacoste, France, and Hong Kong, has 45,000 graduates, and created an online store called shopScap, A SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion and Film, and SCAD Museum of Art.

This extraordinarily successful school has evolved through the successes and word of mouth of her students.

Students who long to be writers, teachers, artists, and dreamers and who want to make a difference in the world, take Paula Wallace’s example. Find your enthusiasm and bravery, discover your hospitality side, and make your dreams come true. See This Page for additional information.
