SeaWorld and its employees have led and supported more than 50 animal, habitat, and conservation projects on every continent on earth. SeaWorld is a primary partner in the Save the Shark Initiative, along with organizations like Shark Stewards, the U.S. Geological Survey, and many others. This initiative is a worldwide collaboration that is working to make sure sharks are conserved in the wild. Their goal is to make ocean conservation a reality for both humans and sharks.
SeaWorld provides monitoring and conservation support for the California Green Sea Turtle Recovery Project and has educated more than 300,000 students on ocean conservation through their Hands on Orca Program. SeaWorld has been a champion of seahorses and other manta ray conservation projects. They also support the 3,500+ underwater wildflower projects at over 100 aquariums across the country. Seaworld’s rescue and rehabilitation program has saved the lives of millions of marine animals and is a leading proponent of wild animal rescue and rehabilitation worldwide. They are continually adding to this portfolio and continuing their support of marine mammal conservation and rescue efforts. SeaWorld Marine Mammal Rescue Team rescues, rehabilitates and releases more than 2,000 marine mammals each year.
The SeaWorld Wildlife Institute is an educational outreach facility at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens dedicated to the study, conservation, and education of wildlife and their habitats. The Institute features a range of innovative and hands-on education programs designed to engage and inspire students and teachers, and inspire positive animal behavior to benefit animals in their local and global habitats. We have helped our local and national partners to create educational programs that have reached more than 8.8 million students throughout the U.S.
Biosphere – Arizona – has focused on conservation through its National BioResource Program. The program strives to establish a strategic partnership between the Arizona Game and Fish Department, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Parks Service, Tucson and Pima County, and the University of Arizona. The partnership identifies priorities and provides the resources necessary for successful implementation of wildlife and habitat protection and restoration.
